![]() Everett Richardson was born on February 6, 1963 to Vera Richardson and Willie Matthews in Montgomery, Alabama. He was brought to Cleveland at the age of three. He grew up a happy child who loved going to church. His favorite part of service was being able to participate in his Sabbath school classes where he learned and memorized scriptures.
At the age of twenty Everett accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Bethel SDA Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He greatly enjoyed attending his aunt's church concerts, especially to hear his favorite song, Great is Thy Faithfulness. Everett loved his family and he loved life! From kindergarten through ninth grade Everett attended Cleveland Public Schools. Early on, he was recognized as a gifted student and soon became a member of the Honor Society. At the age of sixteen he was offered an academic scholarship to attend Culver Military Academy in Culver, Indiana. With his mother's blessing he accepted this opportunity, and graduated in 1981. While at Culver, Everett dominated the football field, basketball court and race track all while maintaining his excellent grades! Vanderbilt University offered him a full scholarship, which he accepted. But, he soon decided "Vandy" was not for him. He chose to enroll in the National Guard while attending Kent State University. He graduated on mothers' day 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in computer engineering. Soon after he welcomed the arrival of his first son, Jelani. During his final year in college he secured a position at General Electric, beginning a rewarding career as a computer network engineer with numerous employers. Everett continued to enjoy being a role model for the young men in the neighborhood and in his family. Like a big brother, he would share with them the importance of getting a good education. He often played foot ball with them or would just spend time listening to them, especially his younger cousins Marcus, Jose and his nephew Aaron. With all this practice, Everett was thrilled to welcome the arrival of a second son, Jourdan. He was a loving, caring father who absolutely adored his children. Everett relocated to Boston, where he met and became good friends with Tracy. Their friendship led to marriage and they built their home and settled in Leonardtown, MD. Tracy was his pride and joy. A deeply loving wife and helpmate. When he became ill she steadfastly cared for him, never wishing to leave his side. We thank you Tracy for your excellent care. We will always love you. Everett leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Tracy Richardson; two sons, Jelani and Jourdan Richardson; two stepsons, Tony and Brandon Igo; his parents; Vera Richardson and Willie Matthews; sisters; Cynthia Jackson (Jonas), Audrey Dunn, of Atlanta, GA, Andrea Mealing (DeCarlo), Lasondra Richardson (De'Andre) of Cleveland, OH; brothers Curtis Richardson of Montgomery, AL, Justin Matthews of New Rochelle, NY; six nephews, Aaron, Ziair, Zion, Terelle, De'Andre, Tariq; two nieces De'Aundrea and Sharia who preceded him in death, a host of loving aunts, uncles and friends.
