Julia Rebecca Young, 87 of Mechanicsville, MD, a loving sister, mother and devoted wife was born December 20, 1920 in Chaptico, MD the youngest of nine children to the late Willie and Ella Baker. Julia received her education in the St. Mary's County School system in Budds Creek, MD.

On November 30, 1939, Julia was married to her soul mate Francis X. Young, Sr. at the Our Lady of the Wayside Catholic Church in Chaptico, MD. From this union Julia and Francis were blessed with twelve children; Clara (deceased) Elsie, Ernest (deceased), Violet, Hilda, Hazel, Ella, Francis, Jr., Joyce, Charles, Lester and Garfield.

In addition to rearing her 12 children she raised many of her grandchildren. She leaves all of her children and grandchildren with many fond memories. She affectionately nicknamed all of her great grandchildren so she could personally remember each of them. Her heart was always open to lend a hand. She was quick witted and fun loving; her favorite pass time was playing cards and playing bingo, although she didn't quite like being quiet. On Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at the St. Mary's Hospital Julia was relieved of her burdens and embraced in the arms of the Lord.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 68 years, Francis X. Young, Sr.; ten loving children, Elsie E. Young, Violet L. Butler, Hilda M Butler, Hazel E. Bowman, (Harold), Ella L. Burton, Francis X. Young, Jr., Joyce C. Young, Charles R. Young, (Gloria), Lester A. Young and James G. Young. She is also survived by 1 brother John Sprig Baker, 1 brother-in-law John P. Young, (Lillian), 3 sisters-in-law Marie Baker, Loretta Shields, Mary Hagler, 39 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by 1 daughter Clara R. Farmer, 1 son Ernest S. Young, 1 daughter-in-law, 3 sons-in-law, 3 sisters and 4 brothers.
