James (Jamie) Mathew Marx, loving husband, brother, son, and dedicated member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local Union 26, died in Prince Frederick, Maryland on September 28, 2019. He was 50. Jim was born in Annapolis, MD, and raised on the shores of the Chesapeake. He grew up in southern Anne Arundel County with his parents, two brothers, and a sister. In 1999, he married the love of his life, Dawn Renee Marx.

Jim was a strong and compassionate man who formed his values from country living, strong ties to his community, and service to his country as a member of the United States Army. He loved golf and bowling, but IBEW Local Union 26 was his soul. He was profoundly dedicated to the betterment of the union, the work of its members, and the contributions they made to the surrounding areas through good works and charity. After leaving the Army, he joined the IBEW Local Union 26 as an apprentice electrician in 1990 where he made friends that would fortify him throughout a remarkable career.

Jim worked many years in the field as an apprentice, journeyman and then as a foreman. In 2015, he found his calling when he began working for all of the IBEW, Local Union 26 brothers and sisters as a Business Agent/Representative with the leadership team. He served as a Trustee on the Labor Management Cooperation Committee, Trustee for the Annuity Fund, and was a member of the Executive Board.

However, his favorite responsibility was mentoring apprentices and instilling in them a respect for what the union provides for them, the manner in which it fights for them, and above all an appreciation of the brotherhood/sisterhood itself and the community it inspires. In addition to his service to IBEW Local Union 26, Jim also served on the Power House Committee for the Building Trades and on the Calvert County Building Board.

Jim is survived by his wife Dawn R. Marx and their beloved dog Otis, his mother Ruth E. Marx and her husband Johnny Holesapple of North Beach, MD; his sister Karen Brown and her husband Terry of Dunkirk, MD; his brother Norman Marx and his wife Michelle of Huntington, MD; and his brother Jerry A. Marx, Jr., of Chesapeake Beach, MD. He is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry A. Marx. Arrangements by Rausch Funeral Home.
