Bessie Jewel Hall, 97, of Huntingtown passed away September 20, 2019. She was born September 8, 1922 to Robert Lake and Stella (Bostic) Dooley. Bessie was raised in Southeast D.C., spent many summers in Southern Maryland and she loved growing up on the Potomac. She was the youngest of seven children and her father passed away when she was young. He older brothers took care of her and gave her everything she asked for.

Bessie married her high school sweetheart, Lloyd Edward Turner on October 7, 1941. The marriage later ended in divorce and she married John W. Hall on July 3, 1964, which also ended in divorce. Bessie lived in Southeast D.C., moved to Marlow Heights and ultimately settled in Calvert County in May 1989 to help raise her grandchildren. She was employed as a receptionist with Vincent et Vincent Salon and retired in 1989 after 25 years. She was a member and volunteer for the American Legion Post 206 Ladies Auxiliary. Bessie loved rowing, dancing, reading, spending time with her cats and dogs and most of all her family.

Bessie is survived by sons John Edward Turner and wife Linda of Huntingtown and Terry Nelson Turner and wife Betsy of Clarksburg, WV and grandsons James Edward and Jarrett Edwin Turner. Also surviving are great-nieces and nephews Patti Lauermann, Bruce Murphy and wife Kris and Carolyn Stinger, and great-great nieces and nephews Kyle and wife Holly, Keri, Ken and wife Katia, Becky and husband Jon, Maureen, and Bridget and husband Dan and their children Kyle, Alex and Charlotte. She was preceded in death by brothers Milan, Jim, Bus and Robert and sisters Ethel and Mabel. Arrangements by Rausch Funeral Home.
