Mary Theresa "Mamie" Thompson, 82, of Leonardtown, MD died October 15, 2008 in Georgetown University Hospital. Born February 24, 1926 in Loveville, MD she was the daughter of the late Henry J. and Sarah A. Bowles Guy.

She was the beloved wife of Leonard Thompson, whom she married on September 7, 1946 in St. Joseph's Church, Morganza, MD.

She is survived by her children Linda Long and her husband J.F. of Leonardtown, MD, Denise Guy and her husband Ronnie of Leonardtown, MD, J. Leonard Thompson, Jr. and his wife Angie of Loveville, MD, David Thompson and his fiance' Terry LaScola of Loveville, MD and Bonnie Oliver and her husband Randy of Loveville, MD.

She is also survived by her brother Woodrow Guy of Silver Spring, MD and her sister Marguerite Peck of Crofton, MD as well as eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings Mildred Johnson, Catherine Altemus, Iva Tippett, Gladys Krastel, Clyde Guy, Alvin Guy, Julia Farr and Henry (Sonny) Guy.

A lifelong resident of St. Mary's County, Mamie graduated from Margaret Brent High School "Class of 1942." She was a teacher's aide for St. Mary's County Schools for 21 years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed cake decorating and gardening and was devoted to her husband and family.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 20, 2008 from 5:00-8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Morganza, MD with Fr. Keith Woods officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Guy, Jr., D. Andrew Thompson, Jason Thompson, Scott Long, Guy Tippett and Jimmy Latham, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Amanda Schiavoni, Shelley DeLucco, Heather Oliver, Theresa Mellies, Christy Price, Jenna Payne and Brittany Oliver.
