Dawn Fredericka Mehrkam, 41 of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Westfield, PA, died on October 12, 2008 at her residence.

Born on September 29, 1967 in Montgomery, AL, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Swetland and Maureen Fishencord Swetland. Mrs. Mehrkam was a homemaker and has resided in this area for 13 years. She was a member of Company 29 Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad EMT and also took Hazmat disposal courses. Her enjoyments were spending time with her family, listening to various types of music including country western, and she recently began horse back riding.

She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Paul Allen Mehrkam, children, Matthew Ryan Mehrkam and Jessalyn Allora Mehrkam, siblings, Jeni Hauber and husband Bradley, Suzi Farquhar and husband Randall, Melissa Potter, Charles Swetland, Richard Pavlovec and wife Sheila and Robert Pavlovec and wife Colleen. Dawn was preceded in death by a sister Ruth Ann Pavlovec.

Family will receive friends in the Celebration of Dawn's Life on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 5-8PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD. Funeral Services will be held at 10AM on Saturday, October 18, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mechanicsville, MD. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
