Charles "Charlie" Albert Wible, 95, of Hollywood, MD passed away at his home on July 17, 2019. He was born on December 5, 1923 in Hollywood, MD and was the loving son of Ella Nora Woodley Wible and John Martin Wible. Charlie was the loving husband of the late Pearl Hall Wible whom he married on April 17, 1948 in St. John's Catholic Church Hollywood, MD and who preceded him in death on June 10, 2001.

Charlie is survived by his children Steve Hall (Kay) of Hollywood, MD, Paul Wible (Cleone) of Hollywood, MD, Michael Wible (Kathy) of Port Republic, MD, 7 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings Ronald M., Joseph C., Ruth Mae, John M., Jr, Bertha V., Raymond S., George T., Dorothy V., James F., Mary Agnes, Frances Cecilia , and Mary Catherine.

Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy in January 1943 and was deployed on the USS Reynolds, a Destroyer Escort that earned eight Battle Stars in support of Aircraft Carrier screening and anti-submarine operations in the Pacific Theatre. Fireman First Class Charlie Wible earned the Combat Action Ribbon, Asiatic/Pacific Theatre Ribbon (Eight Stars), American Campaign Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was Honorably discharged in December 1946.

He was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident. Charlie was a life member of the Hollywood Vol. Fire Department. He was a lifelong St. Mary's County, MD resident. Charlie was a life member of the Hollywood Vol. Fire Department. He was employed with SMECO for 42 years retiring as a District Manager on December 2, 1988.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 22, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers recited at 7:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM in St. John's Catholic Church Hollywood, MD. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny Wible, Ronnie Wible, John Floyd Copsey, Steve Nelson, Nick Goldstein, and Zachary Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sharon McWilliams, Lena Gardiner, Bob Mitchell, and Ralph Cross. Contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Mary's P.O. Box 625 Leonardtown, MD 20650 and St. John's Catholic School, 43950 St. John's Road, Hollywood, MD 20636.
