Catherine "Cathy" Smith, age 64, of Waldorf, Maryland passed away on June 27, 2019 surrounded by her friends and family. Born on December 31, 1954 in Leonardtown, MD, she was the daughter of Francis Smith and the late Pierre Smith, Jr. Cathy was of the Catholic faith. She was a devoted daughter, partner, and friend who enjoyed music, especially Michael Jackson, dancing, crocheting, but most importantly, loved being with her friends and family.

Cathy was one of three children. In addition to her mother, Cathy is survived by her brothers Pierre P. Smith and Ronald J. Smith. She is also survived by her nieces Heather and Candice Smith, Aunts, Jean Butler and Barbara Vest, along with cousins and many extended family members. Cathy loved her longtime companion, Michael Westin. In December 2013, they shared a commitment ceremony. Cathy was very proud to tell others about her guy! Cathy was also very close to her housemates Ronnie Jo and Shirley; as they have lived together for many years, they were like family. Cathy cared deeply for those that supported her, especially Roseanne, Patsy, Ettyce, Sharon, Robin, Rose and Linda. She always appreciated their love and support, especially in her final days.

Cathy attended FB Gwynn Center until she entered Melwood's Vocational Program in 1976. She worked at the Naval Ordinance Station and Holiday Inn for number of years. She later transitioned to the Personal Enrichment Program "PEP" that offered many leisure activities that Cathy enjoyed. She made many lifelong friends everywhere she went. In 2009, Spring Dell Center joined Cathy's entourage of friends while supporting her in her home. She left quite an impression on everyone she came in contact with. She was a delight to be around and always brought joy to others. She was full of sass, loved to dance and was always the life of the party. To know her was to love her, her sweet personality and love for life made your heart smile. Her friendship and joyful soul will be greatly missed by all.

Family and friends to gather on Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 from 11AM until time of service at 12Noon. Interment will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Spring Dell Center, 6040 Radio Station Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646.
