Mr. Carpentiere, son of the late Frank Carpentiere and Concetta Marino Carpentiere of Cromwell, CT, died Wednesday May 29, 2019 from Parkinson's disease. He was predeceased by his parents and first wife Joan Cubeta Carpentiere. He is survived by his loving wife, Lillian Estelle Carpentiere; two daughters, Marcella (James) Townsend of Washington, DC and Christa Carpentiere of Seattle, WA; and his sister, Constance Carpentiere of Bethesda, MD. Also survived by two grandchildren, Nicholas and Julia Townsend.
Born in Hartford, CT in 1939, Joseph graduated from Worcester Polytechnical Institute with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He served as a Lieutenant in the Army Communications Corps in Frankfurt, Germany from 1962 to 1965. He worked for General Electric and later as an independent consultant in the software field. In mid-life, he moved to Beaufort, SC and owned and operated the Old Point Inn with his first wife, Joan. The son of a cabinet maker, Joe became an excellent wood worker in retirement maintaining the historic inn, restoring an antique boat, and building his home and barn in Newburg, MD. Late in life, Joe became a building inspector for Charles County and worked as a cabinet maker. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was a life-long Catholic.
Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 12:30PM at St. Mary's Newport Catholic Church with Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Raymond Funeral Service.
