Robert L. Cleaveland Sr., of La Plata, Maryland died on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Hospice of the Chesapeake in Pasadena, Maryland. He was 84 years old. Born on May 29, 1934 in Washington, DC, Mr. Cleaveland is the son of the late Merie Venia and John Ritchie Cleaveland. A professional truck driver, Mr. Cleaveland drove for different companies, including Giant Food, from which he retired from. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Washington Senators, Washington Redskins and the University of Maryland College Basketball. He loved working word search puzzles, but most importantly, spending time with his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cleaveland is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor R. Cleaveland; his daughter Lori J. Hitt. He is survived by his children Deborah L. Cleaveland, Robert L. Cleaveland Jr. and his wife Marylou, Larry W. Cleaveland and his wife Stephanie, Richard L. Cleaveland, Janice E. Young and her husband Ronald, Carl D. Cleaveland, Patricia A. Cleaveland and her husband Gerard Magrogan; his son-in-law Robert Hitt; his grandchildren Sara Jackson, Shane Cleaveland, Christopher Cleaveland, Gabrielle Cleaveland, Seth Cleaveland, Casi Jackson, Shannon Sosa, Richard Cleaveland Jr., Kelly Cleaveland, Ronald Young Jr., Corey Young, Paige Magrogan, Amanda Stubaus, and Robert K. Hitt; his great grandchildren Sierra Jackson, Devon Jackson, Tierney Knott, Isiah Briandt, Madison Sosa, Noah Sosa, Avery Wright, Ella Wright, Christopher Stubaus, Emalee Stubaus, Kassidy Stubaus, Carson Stubaus, and Raelynn Cleaveland; numerous other relatives and friends.

Visitation on April 1, 2019 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 where Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 beginning at 10AM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Memorial contributions in his honor may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, Maryland 21122.
