Fred Lewis King, 97, of Solomons, MD passed away on January 19, 2019 at his residence. Born September 1, 1921 in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Fred Thomas King and Euda Marion (White) King.

Fred graduated from Central High School in Minneapolis, MN in 1939 and from Southeastern University in 1958. He married his wife Doris Lillian King at Rosedale Methodist Church in Washington, DC on June 8, 1944. Fred was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947 serving in Wurtzburg, Germany during WWII. He was a Machinist at the Naval Gun Factory, Washington, DC from 1940-1955. Fred retired from the Goddard Space Flight Center as a Computer Programmer in 1978 after sixteen years of service.

Fred is survived by his children, Nancy King of CO and Russell King of Annandale, VA; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris L. King on March 21, 2009; his siblings, Arthur F. King and Beverly E. Vaughan; his sister-in-law, Burnelle King; and his brother-in-law, James Vaughan.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. with a Life Celebration Service following at 2:30 p.m. at the Asbury-Solomons Auditorium, 11100 Asbury Circle, Solomons, MD 20688. Interment will be on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland, MD. Arrangements by Rausch Funeral Home.
