Geoge B. Brooks died on August 26, 2008, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Born February 15, 1923 in Saluda, SC, to George and Inez Brooks.

He grew up and lived most of his working life in Washington D.C. He attended D.C. public schools and joined the United States Army in 1943. George defended his country by serving 3 years active service during WWII. Upon returning to Washington D.C. he got a job at the Freedman's Hospital which is now Howard University Hospital and retired after 30 years of service. During that time he met and married his beloved wife Rachel and began a family.

After retiring, he began working at the White House. It was during this time that, his knowledge of Presidential history was recgonized. A simple man from simple beginnings, he was invited to have an audience with President Bush, Sr. in the Oval office. He was also invited to have lunch with Governor George Allen of Virginia. As a result several Newspaper articles and TV and Radio shows were done on this man they called "Mr. President."

Surviving him is his wife, Rachel Brooks. Daughters; Terry Brooks, of Richmond, VA; Beverly A. Davis of Edgewater, MD. and husband Brian. Son George A. Brooks of Washington D.C. and 2 step children; Zebulin Edwards and Louis Smith, Jr. and wife Chaka. 4 grandchildren, Keon Johnson, Brittany Davis, Lavon Brooks and Tiffany Norvell. also 1 great grandchild; Jayden Mackall. He is also survived by his sister; Erma Patrick of Seat Pleasant, MD. as well as a host of other family and friends.

The service will be held at 10 am, Thursday, September 4, 2008 at American Rescure Workers Church with the Evangelist at Large Charles Harris, officiating. Service address is 716 Ritchie Rd. Capitol Heights, MD.
