Joseph Marvin Bader of Waldorf, MD formerly of Washington, DC, died on Sunday, August 24, 2008 at Pineview Nursing Center in Clinton, MD. He was 75 years old.
Born on September 18, 1932 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Joseph Aloysius Bader and the late Lorraine Farnell Bader. Mr. Bader attended West Point Academy for one year and served in the U. S. Army until he was Honorably Discharged in 1955 at the rank of Sergeant. While in the military, he received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Buddy was an Elevator Mechanic for Otis Elevator Company, then worked as a Cable Splicer for the Telephone Company and was a Shrimp Vender, selling seafood from his truck on the side of the road between Waldorf and Brandywine. He enjoyed watching classic western movies, especially those which starred John Wayne. Although, most everyone knew him as "Buddy", his favorite nickname was "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Shirley Ann Bader; one son, Joseph William "Joe " (Ellen) Bader of Waldorf, Md.; two daughters Katherine A. Bader of Waldorf, MD and Donna J. (Michael) Blaso of Wayson's Corner, MD; two grandchildren Richard S. Bader and Ashley A. Bader of Waldorf, MD; one sister Patricia Ferro of Florida; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 6PM to 8PM with Prayers at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue La Plata, Maryland 20646. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at St. Peter's Catholic Church Waldorf, MD at 9:30AM. Interment to follow at Maryland Veterans Cemetery Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers are Joseph W. Bader, Greg Neil, Brian Ohler, Richard Bader, Michael Blaso and Richard Latimer.
