Carl W. Beatty, Jr., 82, of Owings, MD, passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018. He was born in Washington, DC to Carl W. and Lillian G [Fisher] Beatty. Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired as a Sergeant in the K-9 unit of the Metropolitan Police Department in 1975, after serving for 17 years. He was the former President of the Police Association for two terms, Chairperson of the International Police Association, Region #62, Director of Calvert County Churches Food Pantry in Calvert County, Captain of the Ambulance Squad in District Heights VFD and Director of Training, Metro Police Department, K-9 Corp.

Carl was the beloved husband of Mary A. [Potter] Beatty for over 61 years, celebrating their wedding anniversary on June 8, 2018. He was the loving father of Carl Beatty, III, Steve Beatty (who passed away in 2013) and Bridgette Phelps. He was the father-in-law of Rosemary Beatty, devoted grandfather of Steve and Christine Beatty, Carl Beatty, IV (Cori), Erin Beatty Thorp (Mike), Melissa Wyant, Mariam Wyant Canning (David) and Starr Filorimo. Carl was the great-grandfather of Rebecca, Grace, Carl V, Dominic, Leo, Shyann and Trey.

Family invites friends to Grace Brethren of Calvert County, 9870 Old Solomons Island Road, Owings, MD 20736, on Monday, August 6 from 6 to 8 pm, and on Tuesday, August 7 from 11 am until start of Memorial Service at 12 pm.
