Arthur M. Washington peacefully transitioned to eternal rest on July 28, 2018, at Genesis Nursing Home in La Plata, MD. He was born on January 21, 1927 in Riverside, Maryland. Born to the late Arthur and Mary Francis Washington. Marshall attended Charles County public schools. He worked at the U.S. Naval Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Center in Indian Head, Maryland; after thirty-five (35) years of government service, he retired in 1987.

Marshall was devoted to his family and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was the kindest person you could ever meet with a heart of gold. He touched the lives of many people with his smile and generosity. Marshall was an avid outdoorsman that love working for his family and friends. He was our neighborhood "handyman" that was skilled in doing all types of small jobs. The one thing he enjoyed most was hopping in his pick-up truck and driving off to help others without complaint. He was always a busy man hard at work.

Marshall excepted the Lord at a very early age and was a dedicated member and deacon at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty (50) years where he was loved and respected. Marshall was preceded in death by his wife the late Hester E. Washington; two daughters Barbara J. Posey and Lisa L. Washington; four brothers Herbert, George, James and Aaron Washington; two sisters Arlene Spears and Maude Groome.

Marshall leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Hester Bannister and Patricia Page; and two sons Clifton Washington and Ernest Washington; sons-in-law John Bannister and Charles Page; daughter-in-law Toni Washington; sisters-in-law Catherine Brown; Romaine Savoy, Valerie Washington and Katherine Washington; brother in-law; Randolph Savoy; Grand-daughters Portia Posey, Latarsha Bannister and Keana Page; Grandsons David Barnes, Steve Carroll, Clifton Washington, Jeremy Bannister, Isaac Page and Joshua Bannister; Great Grand-daughters Davina Gaines, Shanice Carroll, Deonna Mack and Katoria Washington; Great-Grandsons Malik Burns, Davon Barnes, Stephan Barnes, Damian Broome, Eric Broome, Jaylen Bannister; Great Great-Grand daughters Valiayh D'Monie and Vaniyah Mills and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff they comfort me.
