Donna L. Merchant, 74, of Nanjemoy, MD passed away on July 17, 2018 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in La Plata, MD. Born in Washington, DC on September 4, 1943 to Rita E. Brawner and the late John D. Brawner, Donna is also preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Merchant and her brother, Robert J. Brawner.

She leaves behind sons, Craig A. Merchant and Mark D. Merchant (Dawn); daughters, Michelle M. Brown (John), Stephanie R. Merchant and Nichole D. Selvadurai (David); brother, William G. Brawner; sisters, Virginia Wathen, Oetta Carrick and Margaret Dobry; 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Prior to her retirement, Donna worked for Prince George's Co. Public Schools. Donna enjoyed jogging, bicycling and camping in her spare time. Her greatest pleasure came from spending time with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 9AM to 11AM at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home (211 St. Mary's Ave., La Plata, MD); where a Funeral Service will also start at 11AM; Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery (8000 Woodyard Rd., Clinton, MD); Repass to follow at La Plata FOP Lodge#24 (10285 Rosewick Rd., La Plata, MD). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
