On August 16, 2008, God promoted his faithful servant, Johanna Mercera "Tina" Redman, to glory. Daughter of the late Doris and Filmore Prue, Tina was born on January 30, 1934, in Washington DC. Johanna was the eldest of eleven children. She had five sisters; Phyllis, Doris, Shelia (Dave), Marsha Thomas), and Sheryl; five brothers; Jimmy (deceased), Shelby (deceased), Keith (Beverly), Kevin, and Kirk.

She was educated in the D.C. Public Schools. Johanna met and married William Henry Redman (deceased). They later moved to Redhill Estates in Pisgah, MD August 1961. She was a loving mother to Walter (deceased), Deborah, Renée, Leah, and Joyce.

Johanna held many jobs. She worked for Bowling Field Air Force Base, University of Maryland, Charles County Public Schools and DC General Hospital where she worked until retirement in 1996.

She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and worked faithfully as a member of the Addie E. Thomas Missionary Society, Culinary Committee, Sanctuary Choir, and a member of the Pastoral Relations Committee. She loved to serve and out of the kindness of her heart she dedicated her life to pleasing others.

Tina helped raise seven loving grandchildren Andre, Tomora, Monique, Marcus, Dwayne, Syreeta, and Charmaine along with ten great-grandchildren Treavon, Joseph, Mercedes, Taj, Syrena, Skylar, Elijah, Mercia, Dakota, and Aliyah.

She leaves one uncle, Benton Stewart , a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends: Gale Thomas, and Ann Milbourne, a daughter in-law, Valerie, a son-in-law, Eric, loving neighbors the Barnes and Proctor Families, the caring staff of Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis Unit of Waldorf, devoted caregivers Michelle Coats, Paulette Mack, Yvonne Gaines, and Ethel Holton, and faithful members of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

Tina was a vibrant, tireless and very compassionate person. She never met a stranger and welcomed everyone into her home. She loved to help anyone in need, and served as a second mother to many. Tina loved the Lord, her family and loved to cook. Never at a lost for words she could keep you laughing. We will always remember her beautiful smile, her love for life, her witty advice, uncanny humor, words of encouragement and her giving and thankful heart.

She was loved by many and God loved her best.
It broke our hearts to lose you
you did not go alone
Apart of us went with you
That day God called you home
God only allows what is best
So sleep on mom and take your rest
A beautiful life has come to an end
You died as you lived, everyone's friend
To some you may be forgotten;
To others, just a part of the past
But mom we truly loved you
Your memory with us will always last.
