Richard Ervie White, age 80, of St. Charles, Maryland, completed his journey peacefully on this earth April 29, 2018 with his family by his side. Richard was born February 8, 1938 to Richard T. and Loretta White in Prince George's County, Maryland. Richard entered into the United States Air Force October 31, 1960 at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota and retired in 1986 while stationed at Andrews Air Force Base as a Lieutenant Colonel.

Holding various specialties as an Acquisition Management Officer, Staff Development Engineering Manager and Astronautical Engineer, Richard received the Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon with five Oak Leaf Clusters and the National Defense Service Medal.

As a natural with math, he often served as a substitute teacher and tutor for the Charles County School District after retiring from the United States Air Force. Richard was a brave and loyal officer, as well as a patient and loving father, brother and son. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly K. Owens (Kearns), Catherine A. Gimple (White), sons, Scott A. Kearns, Richard D. White and brothers Jon White (Diane) and Mickey White (Maria). In addition to six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lee White.

A military with honors service will be held at Raymond Funeral Service in La Plata, Maryland on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. (gathering) and 11:00 a.m. Memorial Service and Military Honors. It is requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Richard's name to the Air Force Aid Society.
