![]() Hilda Cecelia Fowler Woods (Age 74) of Tompkinsville, Maryland After a long illness, Hilda Cecelia Fowler Woods quietly closed her eyes on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Spring Grove Hospital Center in Catonsville, Maryland and went on home to the Lord.
Hilda was born on July 10, 1934 in Tompkinsville, Maryland to the late Mary A. "Maggie" and the late Charles Henry Fowler, Sr. Hilda was employed as a cook at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland and Howard Johnson in LaPlata, Maryland where she was a dedicated worker. Hilda was educated in the Charles County Public School System. She was baptized at the Holy Ghost Church in Issue, Maryland and remained a member. Hilda was a faithful and dedicated mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt. She had a kind and giving spirit. She loved shopping, listening to oldies but goodies, playing lottery and making cakes. She was called Ms. Hilda by many friends and neighbors. She had an infectious love for people. She was a very independent person who didn't take "NO" for an answer. She got the opportunity to travel the world. One of her favorite sayings was 'GOD AIN'T SLEEPING", HE KNOWS WHAT YOU'RE DOING". Hilda leaves to cherish her memories three sons: James Darnell Barnes, Ernest David Thomas(Linda) and D'Anthony Marshall Woods; four sisters: Mary Genevieve Bailey, Agnes Ernestine Butler(Leo), Margaret Newton, Bea Fowler-Alston(John); five grandchildren: Dethra Credle(Darryl), Valerie Johnson, Ayanna Smoot(Bobbie), DeCarlos Keys(Dana) and Chaz Thomas; nine great-grandchildren: Carlisha Hill, Donte' Credle, Trene'e, Ikeisha and Lauren Gibson, Makailah Smoot, Mynequa Thomas, DeCarlos Jr. and Tavera Keys; one eldest cousin: Louise Brawner and host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Hilda was also preceded in death by two brothers: John Raymond and Charles Henry Fowler, Jr. Her Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2008, 9:30 to 10:30 am, Tributes 10:30 to 10:45 am, Mass of Christian Burial, 11:00 am at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Issue, Maryland. Interment, Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Pomonkey, Maryland. |
