![]() Doris Estelle Earnshaw Simmons, 83, of Clements, formerly of Camp Springs, died November 17, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Leonardtown, Maryland.
She was born in Brandywine, Maryland on November 17, 1923 to the late Pinckney Andrews, Sr., and Bertha Mary Rees Earnshaw. She was married on June 2, 1945 to the late Leonard Harding Simmons, Sr. They were together for 54 years until his passing in 1999. He was the center of her world and she missed him dearly during the past 7 years. Mrs. Simmons was a homemaker and was very caring not only to her husband, but also their three sons. She also loved and cared for her grandchildren and was very proud of them. Throughout her life her interests varied from golf, antiques, crocheting and needlepoint. She was a member of Christ Church in Chaptico and a past member of St. Barnabas Church in Oxon Hill. She also was a member of the Southgate-Clinton Lions Club and a past member and volunteer of the Surratt Society. She is survived by her sons, Leonard Harding Simmons, Jr. and his wife Connie of Upper Marlboro, Gary Andrews Simmons of Bovina , New York, and David Arthur Simmons and his wife Mary of Clements; four grandchildren Leonard Harding (Traye) Simmons, III, Carrie Lynn Hubert, David Elliot Simmons and John Leonard Simmons; four great grandchildren, Timothy and Tyler Simmons and Blake and Miranda Hubert. She is also survived by two sisters, Ellen E. Blandford and Marjorie F. Farrell. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Richard J. Earnshaw, Pinckney A. Earnshaw, Jr. and two sisters, Bertha M. Russell and Alice M. Corstaphney. The family received friends at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, Maryland on Monday, November 20, 2006 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Prayers were recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Christ Episcopal Church, Chaptico, Maryland with Reverend W. Jessee Neat officiating. Interment will be in the Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, Maryland. Pallbearers will be Traye Simmons, David Simmons, John Simmons, Timothy Simmons, Wayne Gwynn and Brian Russell. Memorial contributions may be made to Leonardtown Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
