Doris Jane Nowell, 90, of La Plata, MD passed away on March 1, 2018 at Genesis Elder Care in Waldorf, MD. Born on January 26, 1928 in Washington, DC to the late Willard Thomas Harrison and the late Mary Laura Harrison, Doris is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Talmage Dewitt Nowell, Jr.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory sons, Thomas Dewitt Nowell and Guy Joseph Nowell; daughters, Mary Beth (Nowell) Ayers and Patricia Kathryn (Nowell) Cronise; sisters, Betty Lorraine Harding, Patricia Ann Long and Mary Lou Price; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Doris owned and operated Nowell's Ceramics. Her hobbies included quilting, kitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and cooking. Her greatest source of pride and enjoyment was her family. She will be greatly missed. Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home.
