Kathleen (Kathy) Lynn Hughes "Kat", age 41, died suddenly at her home on Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 in Lusby, MD. Kathy was born on August 4th, 1967 at Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, MD to Margaret Ellen Smith of California, MD and the late Guy N. "Smitty" Smith.

Kathy attended Leonardtown High School. She enjoyed taking care of cats, dogs and unwanted animals, doing word find books, crocheting, listening too Ozzie Osborne, Black Sabbath, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Daryl Worley and taking walks on the beach.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband Daire Van Cott Hughes. Daire and Kathy were married on March 7, 1993. Her beloved daughter Shannon Marie Duckett of Baltimore, MD. Devoted sister of Sherrie Young, California, MD and Christine and her husband Michael Hall of Lusby, MD. Granddaughter of Marion A. Smith of MN and the late Claude W. Smith. Daughter-in-law of Charles Miller Hughes of Dover, DE. Sister-In-Law of Jennifer Shuster, Michael and Mathew Hughes. Aunt of Heather Young, Robert Smith, Michael Kayes and Jessica Hall. She is also survived by Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and friends.
