Clifton Allen Whitley Greene entered into this world on Wednesday, July 18, 1956, in the township of Goldsboro, North Carolina. He was the son of the late James and Arie Whitley and the brother of James, William, Randolph, Aaron (deceased), Roland, Everett Whitley, Patricia McKeithan, Alice Crawford, Peggy Bell, Belinda Smith, and Lillian Stephenson.

Chubby, as he was affectionately called, was a jolly and happy child. At an early age his uncle and aunt, Richard and Laura Greene, took a special interest in him and he was permitted to move to Washington, DC with them. As the years passed, they adopted him. In addition to his biological siblings, Joyce Patricia Greene became a sister, Marvin (deceased), Brodie and Ricardo Kornegay his brothers, as well as his foster family Doris, Gary, and Jacqueline Cooper, Danny Peeler, Jackie Pixely and others.

His early childhood education was in the D.C. Public Schools. In the early 70's the Greenes relocated to Mechanicville, Maryland. There Chubby attended the St. Mary's County Public Schools graduating from Chopticon High School, Morganza, Maryland in 1976.

He developed a love for nature as an adolescent. As a farmer's helper, helping Daddy Greene cultivate, reseed the land, growing vegetables and processing tobacco, he learned how to operate and repair all the machinery -including the Big John Deere tractor. As an adult, he was gainfully employed as a diesel mechanic and "mastered" the ins and outs of the trade. After years of employment, he became self-employed doing what he loved most, repairing diesel engines, heavy duty equipment, and building vehicles. He was best known for building race cars thereby was given the nickname "Dr. Greene", because if it didn't run right he would fix it. Drag Racing became the family's past time, and many Friday nights you could find him at Budds Creek.

Twenty-four years ago (August 4, 1984), he met and married the love of his life, Martha Briscoe. The story goes that she approached him asking if he had .25 cents. He replied, "Yes, can I have a date?" The rest is history. From their union four children were born Brian, Isaac, Keith, and Katrina . Their marriage vows, which they pledged twenty-four years ago, "to love, comfort, honor and obey, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, to death do us part"...held true. He expired on Wednesday, August 6.

His past-time hobbies were gardening, cooking, building race engines, watching soap operas, shooting the breeze, cruising with his family and caring for his dogs, Sheba and Kato.

His loving memories will ever be cherished and reminisced in the days, months and years ahead by his devoted wife, Martha, sons, Brian, Isaac, Keith and daughters Katrina and Gladys, grandchildren: Nyla, Ashlyn, Daelyn, Amari Greene; his brothers and sisters; best friend Charles "Chuck" Helton and special nephew, Steven Whitley; in laws: James C. Sr., James C. Jr, Frances, John, Shirley, Ronald, Micheal, David, and Mark Briscoe, Margaret Medley, Helen Butler-Grantham, Sharon Wood, Judy Nelson, Jane Hebb , Mary Gray, Annie Whitley, Thomas McKeithan I and Larry Bell; many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Dear God, let the words of our mouths and the sweet melody of our hearts be acceptable in your sight.
