Mr. La Porte was a Post Master with the Nanjemoy Post Office for 28 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served from 1962 through 1968 (Vietnam Era). He loved New York Giants football and golfing. He was a member of the VFW Post in Waldorf, MD and was of the Catholic faith.

He was son of the late Earl LaPorte and Antoinette Graziano LaPorte.

He was predeceased by his father and one brother, Edward LaPorte.

He is survived by his wife, Marie D'Amico LaPorte, his mother Antoinette LaPorte, three daughters, Annette Cox of Fayetteville, NC, Patricia (Ronald) Myers of Laurel, MD, and Kimberly (Patrick) Maher of Parkville, MD, two sisters, Angela Helton and Nancy Trudeau, both of Albany, NY. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, MD.

A Funeral Service will follow on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 12:30pm at Raymond Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers will be David Beavers, Deke Martin, and Peter Maher. Honorary Pallbearers will be the United States Army Honor Guard.
