On July 30, 2008 at Solomons, Maryland, Florence Bessom Higgs died at the age of 102. Formerly of Arlington, Virginia, the beloved wife of George W. Higgs, she is survived by her sister, Martha Gorman, of Marblehead, MA, her daughter, Virginia Downey, of Churchton, MD, and her sons, Donald of Stone Mountain, GA and Gerry of Gainesville, VA, nine grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
