Mary Helene Laschalt,74, of Kings Mountain, NC formerly of Loveville, MD died in Shelby, NC at the Wendover Hospice Center on Sunday, July 27, 2008, following a courageous battle with Alzheimers and Cancer.

She was born January 22, 1934, in Hollywood, MD to the late Aubrey and Mary Frances Alvey Graves. On October14,1950, she was united in marriage to the late Bernard Laschalt in Loveville MD.

Mrs. Laschalt was a kind person that always took care of others. Even when she was sick, she was worried about everyone else. Before her illness, she was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She loved to dance, sing, play bingo, read, and play with her grandkids.

Helene is survived by her two sisters, Audrey Higgs, and Marie Readmond of Hollywood, MD; a grandson, Craig Scott of Loveville, MD; two granddaughters, Lisa and husband Roger Simms of Loveville, MD, and Frances and husband Ray Owenbey, Jr. of Kings Mountain, NC; three great grandchildren Jacob, Juliet, and Jonathon Owenbey. She was loved dearly by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Charles Bernard Laschalt and James Francis Laschalt and a sister Margaret Goldsborough.

Family and friends will be received for Mary's Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with prayers offered at 7:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home, 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 31, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD. Reverend Keith Woods pastor of the church will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Timmy Readmond, Georgie Hall, Wesley Hall, Stevie Hill and Ray Owenbey.
