Omie Elizabeth Swenton, 77 of Mechanicsville, MD, formerly of Brentwood, MD, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at Holy Cross Hospital.

Born November 25, 1930 in Cherokee, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late, Ashford and Lizzy Bassham.

Mrs. Swenton was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley S. Swenton.

Omie is survived by her sons; Steven, Gregory, Michael and Raymond Swenton, her daughter; Jeanette Mukta, sisters; Bessie Bassham and Doris Snyder also survived by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Mrs. Swenton was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Mrs. Swenton Life Celebration will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622, where prayers will be recited at 7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 25, 2008 at 1pm in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Peter Alliata as the celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Friends are invited to a bereavement meal at the church hall following interment.
