Vera N. Palmer of Waldorf, Maryland died on Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, MD. She was 84 years old.

Born on June 4, 1924 in Sentinel, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Ellen Reed Allen and the late Robert Mac Allen Sr. From Oklahoma, her family moved to California where she lived until 1965 when she moved to Arizona and was a resident there until she moved to Maryland in 2000. A woman ahead of her time, she loved riding motorcycles in the 1950's which led to owning and operating her own body and fender shop in California. Her enormous heart, love of family and hard work ethic were a lesson and example to us all. She will always be remembered for her strong will, perseverance and "ornery" streak.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Robert Dardin; sisters Anita Perry and Norma Ray.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Estes of Maryland, Juanita Andrade and Edna Hall of Colorado; her brother Robert Allen of Oregon; many grandchildren including Teresa and Michael Swigert of Massachusetts, Jennifer and Rick Dardin of New Mexico; numerous great grandchildren including Abigail Marie Swigert and Breanna Hernandez; close friends Nell Bryant, Vickey and Noah Johnson who loved her like family.

Service and interment will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 at 11:30AM at St. Peter's Church Cemetery in Waldorf, Maryland.
