A Mass of Christian Burial will be said Thursday, November 2, 2006 at 10AM in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Peter Alliata officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

Viewing and Visitation will be Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 5PM till 8PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with prayers being said at 6PM.

Carolyn Isabelle "Carrie" Wood, 91, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Thompson Corner, MD died October 30, 2006 in St. Mary's Nursing Center. Born February 5, 1915 in Thompson Corner, MD she was the daughter of the late Robert Theodore and Mary Rozema Moran Herbert. She was the beloved wife of the late Albert C. Wood whom she married on August 6, 1947 in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD.

She is survived by her children: John Allen Murphy and Marilyn Ferguson both of Mechanicsville, MD; brother: LeRoy Herbert of Thompson Corner, MD; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Lillian Yates, Pauline Bowling, Maggie Bowling, Dorothy Williams, Mary Oema Anderson and Allison Herbert.

Mrs. Wood was a life long St. Mary's County resident where she worked as homemaker. She enjoyed short trips with friends as well as planting flowers and she loved animals.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where Prayers will be said at 6:00 PM.
