Betty Jean "Miss Betty" Murphy, 49 of St. Inigoes, MD died July 6, 2008 at Georgetown University Hospital. Born November 10, 1958 in Derry, NH she was the daughter of the late John Lear and Sally Hilton Pearson Watkins.

She was the loving wife of James Wayne Murphy whom she married on October 26, 1991 in Mechanicsville, MD. She is also survived by her son Christopher Wayne Murphy and her brother Donald Watkins of NH. Betty moved to St. Mary's County in 1990 from Millersville, MD and was employed as a school bus driver.

The family will receive friends on Thursday July 10, 2008 from 9:00–10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM with Deacon George L'Heureux officiating. Interment will be private.
