![]() James Thomas "Tommy" Langley Jr. of Waldorf, MD died on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at Invoa Hospital in Fairfax, V. He was 94 years old.
Born on May 9, 1914 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Julia Ida and the late James Thomas Langley. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II stationed in Hawaii and was a Medic with the 819th Tank division. After serving in the military, Tommy had many careers including driving an ambulance, working at a printing company, operating a gas station in Washington, DC, farming and worked as a vehicle mechanic for Macke Vending Company until he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post 227 in Brandywine, MD and at Victory Chapel in Accokeek. He was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and a Washington Redskins fan. He loved playing cards, especially poker. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his son Leonard Leo Langley. He is survived by his wife Mabel McLaughlin Langley; three daughters Linda Rose Kimble, Julia Ida Foster and Ella J. Langley; one son John Thomas Langley; nine grandchildren Lisa, John, Mark, Vicky, Mandy, Jim, Jennifer, Jason and Megan; 25 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2008 at Victory Chapel 16401 Manning Road West Accokeek, MD 20607 from 2PM to 4PM and from 6PM to 8PM with Prayer Service at 7PM. Funeral Services will begin at 11AM on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at Victory Chapel with Pastor Pat officiating. Interment to follow with Military Honors at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. Pallbearers are John Thomas Langley Jr., James Ervin Wahl, Jason Wayne Arrington, Ross Beschner, Richard Lee Nimmerrichter and Dennis Lee LaVallee. Honorary Pallbearer will be Maurice E. Foster II.
