![]() Suddenly, on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at Chapel Point State Park in Port Tobacco, Maryland, Stephen Raymond Barnes Sr. departed this life and entered a life of eternal peace.
Stephen was born on January 20, 1971 in La Plata, Maryland to Raymond Edward Barnes and Gloria Jean Barnes. He was educated in the public schools of Charles County, Maryland graduating from Lackey High School. He worked Construction and was a heavy equipment operator. Stephen loved the water and all things related. He enjoyed fishing and family cookouts. Most of all, he loved his children and taking them on trips. His family was important to him and he dearly loved his grandmother, Ollie Baker, whom he called "Precious." Just before saying good-bye to her he would always tell her, "I love you." He was preceded in death by his Grandmother; Anna Swailes, and Grandfathers; James Swailes and Joseph Bradley Baker. In addition to his parents he leaves to cherish his memory, six children, Shanita Phillips, Jacia Barnes, Shaniqua Barnes, Stephen Barnes, Jr., Shamar Barnes and Shamya Barnes; five step-children, Deandre Posey, Dierre Maxwell, Ashley and Lonnie Coles and Lavonta Price; three brothers, Kevin Edward Barnes, Eric Delontry Datcher and Russell Tyler; one sister, Tasha Barnes; Grandmother, Ollie Baker; a very special and devoted finance, Sharonette Posey; aunts, Lorriane Thomas, Joyce Savoy, Dale "Evelyn" (Gary) Jackson, Janice (Ronald) Coby, and Bernadette (Danny) Stuart; uncles, David (Paula) Belfield, Melvin, Calvin, Andre, Craig and Mark Baker, James and Ronnie Swailes; sister-in-law, Antoinette Barnes, very special friends, Vondell Price and Rudy Posey and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. His Viewing will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Thornton Funeral Home, P.A., Chapel 3439 Livingston Road, (State Route #227, Pomonkey) Indian Head, Maryland from 8:30am until time of Service 10:30am.
