Dorothy "Dottie" Ellen Rooney, 76, of White Plains, Maryland passed away on June 17, 2008 at Civista Medical Center.

Born on September 5, 1931 in Washington D.C. She was the daughter of the late Julius C. Robey and Mary E. Robery. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Mary E. McCloy.

Dottie graduated from the Moore Institute of Art in Philadelphia, PA. She was a well known artist throughout the area and her work was often compared to the great Grandma Moses. Her pieces included memories of childhood and cherished moments spent with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Rooney, Jr. children; Bridget E. DeRonda and her husband Albert of Charlestown, West Virginia, Colin E. Rooney and his wife Julie of White Plains, Maryland, and Megan E. Rooney of Ft. Lauderdale, Flordia. Grandchildren; Cathryn DeRonda, Colin Rooney, Jr, Sean Rooney, and Abby Rooney, great grandchild, Alexandra Clark.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Pomfret, Maryland on Friday, June 20, 2008 at 11 am. Father Tom LaHood will officiate.

Arangements are being handled by AREHART-ECHOLS Funeral Home, P.A. in La Plata, Maryland.
