Thomas Earl Brawner, affectionately known as "Tooka" departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland. He was born February 9, 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland to Mary Lynette Brawner and Thomas Ignatius Lyles. His greatest joys in life was the love for his children, Jasmine Lucille Brawner and Montrese Brawner.

Thomas was a lifelong resident of Charles County and was educated by the Charles County Public School System. He was a great athlete and participated in football, baseball and basketball. He loved his family and enjoyed life especially singing and dancing. He was often referred to as "Usher's Twin". Thomas had a kind and loving heart and constantly expressed his love for others. He was always appreciative of all anyone had to offer him.

Thomas loved being a barber to all his little cousins showing off his skills with all the latest designs. He was previously employed with Henley's Transportation Inc. Thomas received his early baptism at St. Joseph's Catholic Church and in 2016 excepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at Metropolitan United Methodist Church in Indian Head, Maryland.

Thomas leaves to cherish in his memory his parents, Mary Lynette Castillo (Martin Castillo) and Thomas Ingnatius Lyles (Lisa Lyles), two loving children Jasmine Lucille Brawner and Montrese Brawner, two brothers Thomas Ignatius Lyles Jr and Jeffrey Lamont Brawner, two sisters Marlexus Castillo and Demeika Chase, girlfriend Torie Brooks, special friend Renee Hamilton, Godmother Brenda Shirriel and Godfather Earl Brawner. In addition, he leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016 10am until time of service at 11am at Thornton Funeral Home, 3439 Livingston Road, Indian Head, MD 20640. Interment following service at St. Joseph's Church Cemetery, Pomfret, MD. Arrangements by Thornton Funeral Home.
