Ethel Elizabeth (Jackson) Murphy, 90, of Mechanicsville, MD previously of Cobb Island, passed away on November 18, 2016 at University of MD Charles Regional Medical, La Plata, MD. Ethel was born in Washington, DC on August 31, 1926 to the late Ethel (Thompson) Jackson and James Stonewall Jackson.
Ethel was a housewife and mother and enjoyed cooking and reading. She is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Louis Bailey, her second husband, Kenneth Murphy, sons Louis Bailey Jr., Richard Murphy, grandson Robert Bailey, and brother, Lorenzo Jackson.
She is survived by her sons, James "Teddy" Bailey, Joseph Bailey and daughter, Jane Plymire, daughters in law, Carol Bailey, Lisa Bailey, Pam Bailey, son in law, Paul Plymire II. Also surviving Ethel are grandchildren: Jeff Bailey, Shawn Bailey, Candy Gregory, Crystal Miller, Sarah Posey, Paul Plymire III, Paige Bailey, Courtney Thompson and Clarence Tucker; and great-grandchildren: James Gregory, Madden Posey, James Posey, Alayna Bowling, Kaelyn Bowling, Paul Plymire IV, Cailey Guffey, Adriana, Trista and Jacob Bailey, Trevor and Dillon Thompson. Also surviving Ethel is her brother, James Jackson.
Family will receive friends for Viewing on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 from 2 to 4PM and 6-8PM with prayers recited at 7PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. Mass of Christian burial will be on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at 11AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 15848 Rock Point Road, Newburg, MD 20664 with Father Kleinstuber officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
