Lillian Mae Thompson, 90, of Leonardtown, MD died Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Medstar St. Mary's Hospital in Leonardtown, MD. She was born March 12, 1926 in Entriken, PA to the late Lloyd Theodore and Edna Jean Morningstar Bortner. She moved to St. Mary's County with her mother and stepfather Horace K. (Pete) Stetler in 1943 when the Patuxent Naval Air Station was being built.

On September 28, 1945, Lillian married her beloved husband, William Mack Thompson at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Leonardtown, MD. Together they celebrated over 48 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in December 1993. She and her husband enjoyed being together, and she liked working at his side helping in his cabinet making business. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook, known for her delicious family dinners, especially her fried chicken, chicken and dumplings, and potato salad.

She enjoyed listening to bluegrass, gospel, country, and the swing music of her youth. She was a strong, independent, gentle woman of quiet dignity and reserve. Family was her greatest love. She was a deeply caring person, always willing to listen to her loved ones cares and concerns, to share in their joys and sorrows, passing on her legacy of love, strength and caring to her children and grandchildren.

Lillian is survived by her children, Linda A. Thompson of Leonardtown, MD, Diane T. Moffatt (Joseph) of Leonardtown, MD, and Debra T. Moran (Ralph) of Hollywood, MD; grandchildren: Catherine L.
