Mr. Whitley was a mail carrier in Waldorf for the United States Postal Service. He was a devoted Redskins fan and loved hunting. He enjoyed singing, photography, cooking and sports, but especially tending to his rose gardens. He loved life. He loved spending time with his family and adored his grandchildren.

He was the son of William Grier Whitley and Margaret Helen Tranmer.
