He was a retired Chief Petty Officer with the US Navy with 20 years of service and a retired US Capitol Policeman with 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Waldorf, Md. For 40 years. Lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Dr. Grtiffith Council both Third and Fourth Degree. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Waldorf, and the VFW Post #8810 in Waldorf, where he served as Post Commander for two terms. He was a volunteer with Melwood, Special Olympics, American Cancer Society, and the Charles County Democrats.
Son of the late William Wallace Blair and the late Esther Winner Blair. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife Lorna M. Blair in 1990. Survived by his wife of 16 years, Shirley A. Blair, two daughters, Bonnie M. (Jeffrey) Maddox of Waldorf, Md., and Brenda A. (Allan) Canter of Newburg, Md., three sons, Wm. "Skip" Blair, Col. Edward J. Watson, MD of Hawaii, and Mark W.(Donna) Watson of Brandywine, Md. , one sister, Erma Blair of Pa., nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Visitation on Thursday, May 29, 2008 from 2-4 and 6-8pm with Prayers at 7PM at Raymond Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Md. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Martin Flum on Friday, May 30, 2008 at 9:30 am at St. Peter's Church Waldorf, MD. Interment at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, Md. Pallbearers will be US Capitol Police Honor Guard.
