Edward Lewis Gilroy, of La Plata, Maryland died on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Sage Point Senior Living Services in La Plata. He was 88 years old.

Born on June 18, 1927 in Washington, DC, Eddie, as he was fondly known, was the son of the late Amelia A. and the late Edward L. Gilroy. Eddie attended and graduated from Lackey High School. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II until he was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He returned home and worked as the Manager of the Spoon Factory on Bumpy Oak Road until it closed in 1969. He then started Gilroy's Towing and Service. Eddie was an avid hunter and fisherman and participated in many local fishing tournaments. He also enjoyed boating and play cards.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn V. Gilroy; his children Linda Sue Hilwig, Michael Edward Gilroy, Brian Lee Gilroy, Dawn Renee Borden (Tex); grandchildren Lisa Simpson, Angela Gilroy, Mindy Hutchison, Brian Gilroy and Callie Borden and eight great grandchildren. He also has four step-children, seven step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren.

Visitation on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 5PM to 8PM with Prayers at 7PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A., 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, MD 20646 where funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 beginning at 11AM. Interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Waldorf, MD. Memorial contributions may be made to SagePoint Senior Living Services, 10200 La Plata Road, La Plata, MD 20646.
