![]() Josephine "Jo" P. Ryan, of Hughesville, MD, formerly of Camp Springs, MD and Bel Alton, MD, passed away on May 18, 2008 at Civista Medical Center.
Born on October 25, 1936 in The Bronx, NY. Mrs. Ryan was the daughter of the late Matthew and Winifred Doheny. Mrs. Ryan was the owner operator of Belle's Hallmark in Marlow Heights, MD from 1985 to 1994; she also worked at the Body Shop Fitness Center in White Plains, MD in the nursery. Nana, as she was known, loved to spoil her grandchildren. She was in constant touch with her entire extended family and was instrumental in keeping everyone connected. Josephine enjoyed shopping and traveling and especially enjoyed several trips to Ireland. Mrs. Ryan is survived by her husband Terence P. Ryan whom she married on September 15, 1956, her children; Michael Ryan, daughter-in-law, Janet, William Ryan, daughter-in-law, Cheryl and Deborah Nielsen, son-in-law, Jan, sister; Winifred Davis, bother-in-law, Joe and her grandchildren; Katie, Erin, Jennifer, Danielle and Keith Ryan, Kelsey and Meagan Nielsen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, William and Lawrence Doheny and sister Catherine Klugston. The family will receive friends for Josephine's Life Celebration on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 from 6pm to 8pm and Wednesday, May 21, 2008 from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm, where prayers will be recited at 7pm in the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Rd., Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, May 22, 2008 at 10am in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Chapel Point with Father Edward O'Connell and Father Edward Dougherty as the celebrants. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ignatius Catholic Church, 8855 Chapel Point Rd., Port Tobacco, MD 20677. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
