Mary Catherine Thompson, 75, of Great Mills, Maryland died on October 17, 2006 at her residence. Born November 11, 1930 in Baltimore, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Marion Gough, Sr. and Violet Sophia Mattingly Gough.
Mary Catherine was raised in Leonardtown, graduating from St. Mary's Academy in 1948. For many years, she worked at Thompson's Furniture City in Hollywood and later at Cedar Lane Apartments. In her retirement, she was a very active volunteer with the Red Cross. She dedicated her life to her family and friends. Mary Catherine is survived by her sisters, Jane Mattingly Gough and Massey Gough Connelly, and her brother, Bernard Beaven. She is also survived by her children Massey Gough Rausch of Solomons, MD, Maurice Chapman Thompson IV, of Morresville, NC, Nancy Jane Martinez, of Port Charlotte, FL, Marion Sophia Phelps, of Coronado, CA, James Howard Thompson, of Hollywood, MD and Jeanette Thompson Cameron, of Leonardtown, MD. Her brother, Joseph Marion Gough, Jr., predeceased her. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melissa Alton, Heather Hooper, Nathaniel Thompson, Joshua Thompson, Melanie Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Dana Maddage, Mindy Bolt, Kellie Phelps, Robert Phelps, Elizabeth Cameron, Ann Marie Cameron and seven great-grandchildren. The family received friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. Prayers were held at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady's Church, Medleys Neck, 41348 Medleys Neck Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650 on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Reverend Lahood and Reverend Berry will be the celebrants. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be James Mason, Bernard Beavan, Jr., Joseph Beavan, Richard Mattingly, Joshua Thompson, Nathan Thompson and Robert Phelps.
