Donald "Don" Spencer Werner, 69, of Bryantown, MD lost his 6 year battle with melanoma on April 15, 2016 at Georgetown University Hospital. Born May 21, 1946 in Reading, Pennsylvania he was the son of the late E. David Werner and Shirley J. (Ruffner) Werner.

Don was the beloved husband and best friend to his wife, Carol Werner. He was a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. Don is survived by his wife, Carol, of 48 years, daughters Shelly Werner-Hood (James) and Heidi Morgan (William); grandchildren Brittany Morgan, Jared Hood, Brooke Morgan and Grant Hood.

Don retired from the D.C. Air National Guard after 31 years, achieving the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, and then followed another career path with J.M. Waller for another 8 years.

He was an avid hiker and loved the beauty of nature. Many trips were taken to the Shenandoah Mountains where he and Carol loved to search for bears. His journeys to Glacier National Park, Yellowstone, Zion, Bryce and other areas out West, were his treasures. His latest trip to Orderville, Utah started a new adventure into the search for Septarian rocks. His grandchildren gave him the enjoyment of watching them play soccer and performing in the theater arts. As an avid Navy football fan, he loved watching the games and tailgating.
