Mr. Richard Dale Mitchell Sr., passed away Thursday, March 17th, 2016 at McLeod Loris Hospital following an illness. Born on July 28, 1952 in La Plata, MD he was the son of Robert E. Mitchell and the late Alma Cooksey Mitchell.

Mr. Mitchell was a retired engineer with Pepco Power Company. Mr. Mitchell loved life and some of his passions included playing softball with his Coyote's softball teammates, shooting and riding his motorcycle. He will be most remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Linda E. Mitchell of the home; his father, Robert E. Mitchell and wife, Joan of Newburg, MD; son; Richard Dale Mitchell, Jr. of La Plata, MD; two daughters, Dawn Byledbal and husband, Todd and Kimberly Mitchell all of MD; two step-sons; Kip Huggins and wife, Traci of Chapin, SC and Hayes Huggins and wife, Amanda of Columbia, SC; four grandchildren; four step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother, Michael Mitchell of VA and one sister, Patti Raymond of MD.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Mitchell was predeceased by one brother, William Jay Mitchell and two sisters, Betsy Strobel and Bobby Sue Thomas.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 beginning at 12 Noon at the La Plata United Methodist Church, 3 Port Tobacco Road, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Arrangements provided by Raymond Funeral Service.
