James Adolph Robinson, 82, son of the late Dora Morgan Taylor (Thomas Taylor) and Bernard Robinson was born on May 3, 1933 in Valley Lee, Maryland. James grew up and lived in Valley Lee, Maryland and attended St. Mary's County Public Schools. Following his education, he worked for the Maryland State Highway Administration (MSHA). Following his tenure with the MSHA, James was employed by St. Mary's County Health Department, where he retired after over 20 years of service. He is most known for walking along Route 249, where he was always seen waving daily to everyone.

In September 1955, he wed the love of his life, Violet Elizabeth (Swailes) Robinson of Valley Lee, Maryland. Together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage. This union was blessed with 10 children: John Larry (deceased), Paul Donovan (deceased), Joan Elizabeth (Richard) of Hughesville, MD; Lillian Marie (Larry) of Mechanicsville, MD; James Phillip (Linda) of Oakville, MD; Cheryl Ann (William) of California, MD; Mary Celeste (Andrew – deceased) of Lexington Park, MD; Susan Elise of Haltom, Texas; Lee Xavier of Valley Lee, MD; and Carolyn Aleta of Upper Marlboro, MD.

James' life was illuminated with the love of his family, especially his siblings: Robert Taylor (deceased), Arthur E. Taylor (ex-wife Shirley) of Lusby, MD; Pearl Isabelle Taylor Dickens (Virgil) of Great Mills, MD; and Florine Taylor Brown (Warren Jr.) of Great Mills, MD.

On February 20, 2016, James passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, 2 sons, a Grandson, and 2 Nieces. He leaves behind to mourn him, his loving wife, 2 sons, 6 daughters, 20 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Family will receive friends for James' Life Celebration on Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9:30-10:30am, with a Service of Remembrance at 10:30am, at Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, P.A, 41590 Fenwick Street, Leonardtown, Maryland 20650. Interment to follow at St. George's Catholic Church Cemetery 19199 St. Georges Church Rd. Valley Lee, MD 20692. Arrangements provided by Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home.
