Maria Teresa Quattrone Hayes, 75, died of cardiac complications due to diabetes on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, at Life Line Hospital, Wintersville, Ohio.

Maria is survived by her son Francesco (Monique) Hayes of San Antonio, Texas, her beloved grandsons, Francesco, David, Maximus and Alexander Hayes of San Antonio, Texas, step-children Ira Edward Hayes, Jr., and Jennifer (Rocky) Stump with her daughter, Jocelyn Stump. Also to mourn her passing is brother John Quattrone of Steubenville, Ohio, brother Joseph Quattrone and sister-in-law Rita Quattrone of Clinton, Maryland, and brother-in-law Eusebio Cantone of Reggio Calabria, Italy.

Also remembering her are numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends in the United States and in Italy. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira Edward Hayes, Sr. of New Port Richey, Florida, her dear companion of 17 years, Eugene "Billy" Williams, her Father Francesco Quattrone, her Mother, Teresa Pustorino; her brother Frank "Cheech" Quattrone, sister Giovanna Quattrone Cantone, sisters-in-law Catherina Albanese Quattrone and Marie Gualtiere Quattrone.

Maria was born on May 29, 1940 in Archi, Reggio Calabria, Italy. She left Italy at 23 years of age and traveled to the United States, specifically Steubenville, Ohio where she lived with her family. She worked in the restaurant business owned by her family called the "Baroncafe" on Market Street.

Maria was a delightful and very charming people person, perfect for the job and loved by all who met her. She left Ohio and moved to Maryland, again with family and lived in Camp Springs. She later married and moved to District Heights and Waldorf, Maryland. When she first arrived in Maryland she worked at "Orange Julius" in Landover Mall, later she was employed at the US House of Representatives as a cashier in the food carryout service of the Longworth Building where she worked for many years, and Sam's Club in Waldorf, Maryland employed Maria until she could not work due to illness. She later returned to Steubenville, Ohio, in 2008.

Maria treasured her family and good friends very much. Prior to her health declining, Maria was an energetic woman who participated through the years with The Dean Martin Festival celebrations, The Italian Heritage Festivals in Wheeling, West Virginia, and was a member of the Italian Cultural Club in Steubenville. Maria loved going dancing with her late friend and companion, Billy Williams, they also enjoyed playing BINGO and going to Mountaineer to play the slot machines.

She was a fan of the Redskins, the Beatles who she saw in Pittsburgh in 1964. Maria was so proud to learn to drive and purchased her first car, a Mustang. She really thought she was a race car driver. Her family and friends will always remember her as a sensitive woman very likely, once you became her friend, to offer you a loving embrace, she loved "hugs."

Visitation was held at Mosti Funeral Home Sunset Chapel, 4435 Sunset Blvd, Steubenville, Ohio. A funeral liturgy with Mass was celebrated Monday January 18, 2016, 12:30 pm at Holy Rosary Church. Burial followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, in Steubenville, Ohio.
