Gerald Ray Moore Sr., 81, of Charlotte Hall, MD passed on January 9, 2016. Born May 4, 1934 in Wyandotte, Michigan he was the son of the late Charles T. Moore and the late Lucille (Lyles) Moore.

Gerald (Jerry), served in the Army of the United States during the Korean War. He was also a dedicated public servant as a career firefighter with the D.C. Fire Department Engine Co. 8.

On August 7th, 1955 he married Marilyn Moore, his beloved and devoted wife of 58 years.

Gerald was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved being with his family. He was an avid fisherman and took pleasure in teaching others how to fish, enjoyed being a mechanic for his son's motocross racing, and watching his favorite football team, the Washington Redskins.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Moore; sons, Francis, Charles; and daughter, Kathleen Judith Moore. Gerald is survived by his son, Gerald Ray Moore, Jr (Karen Fedor); daughter, Cynthia Moore-Sailors (Mark); brother, Michael Moore, and grandchildren, Teagan Sailors, Donovan Moore, Sarah Moore, and 15 nieces and nephews.

Family will welcome friends for Gerald's visitation on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with prayers at 7:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A., 30195 Three Notch Road, Charlotte Hall, MD 20622. A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. followed by interment at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery 11301 Crain Hwy, Cheltenham, MD 20623.
