Grace Ellamae Makle Queen known as Gracie & Grandma Bingo was born January 15, 1930 in Gallant Green, Maryland to the late Ambrose Carlton & Marie Thompson Makle. Grace was a resident of Sagepoint Senior Living Services in La Plata, Maryland until she was requested home to be fitted for her wings on Wednesday, October 21, 2015.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Queen, sons, Thomas S. & James K., sisters, Gertrude Boone, Helen Cole and Lillian Farmer, brothers, Carlton and James R. Makle.

She was educated in Malcolm, Maryland in the Charles County Public School System. She was employed as a Cook for Howard Johnson Restaurant for 30 plus years and retired after working 8 plus years at Captain Billy's Seafood Restaurant. She then began her most favorite career, being Grandma.

Gracie enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards (pitch) with friends and family. She also enjoyed watching Perry Mason, Chuck Norris, General Hospital, the Rifleman and Football, cheering on her favorite team, The Dallas Cowboys. She loved listening and dancing to Clarence Carter.

The joy of her life was spending time with family and close friends, the late Joyce Washington & Madeline Woodland, as well as Gloria Lancaster. But at any time you could find her sitting at the table with Diamond (her four legged baby) in her lap, eating cookies and sipping on tea, sharing both with her baby, Diamond. When she was not with Diamond relaxing and watching TV, she was surrounded by her grandchildren.

Gracie leaves her daughters, Mary G. (Genevieve) Harvey/ Tommy, Helen E. (Queenie) Washington/Melvin, Thelma B. Goldring/Ronnie, Patricia (Diane) Tolson and Sheila D. Smoot/Michael; sons, Joseph A. (Mookey) Queen/Diane, Louis C. Queen and Anthony Q. (Tony) Queen. She leaves great memories to (24) grandchildren, (45) great grandchildren, (6) great great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives & friends.

Arrangements provided by Thornton Funeral Home.
