Janet Day Lapelosa, 62, of Newburg, MD passed away on October 13, 2015 at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. She was born January 5, 1953 in Washington, DC to the late John Emery and Janet Elizabeth Kane Day.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid animal lover, especially panda bears and hummingbirds. She enjoyed watching and photographing wildlife. She loved her music. She loved being at the beach and going swimming.

Before retiring she worked for over 20 years for the Federal Government at the Census Bureau as a clerk/typist. She enjoyed spending time with her family and close friends. She was a kind and caring person who was always there to help others.

Janet is survived by her husband of 44 years John David Lapelosa; one son James Edward Lapelosa; two daughters, Julie Marie Lapelosa and her husband Thomas Steiner and Jennifer Elaine Lapelosa; one brother George Day (Arena); two sisters, Carol Grey (Eileen Renniger) and Dorothy Day; one grandchild Skylar Williams; long time best friends Joanne and Dicky Lanham as well as the whole Lanham/Williams family; as well as numerous in-laws and a large extended family.

Memorial gathering will be on Saturday, October 24, 2015 from 2:30PM until the time of memorial service at 3:30PM at Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Ave, La Plata, MD 20646.
