![]() Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Bowling, Sr., 82, passed away on 11th of October, 2015 at his home in Callaway, MD. Born on January 16, 1933 in Newport, MD he was the son of the late Agnes Blanche (Davis) Bowling and George Patterson Bowling. He was the youngest of three boys and spent most of his life on the family farm.
Frank graduated from La Plata High School in 1953 and joined the United States Army serving until Honorably Discharged in 1955. He returned home to work on the family farm and shortly thereafter met and married Phyllis Lee Guy on June 2, 1956. Frank is survived by his children: Sheila Miskowsky (Frank) of Dover, DE; Donna Lee Bowling of Waldorf, MD; Karen Price (Bob) of Lusby, MD; Benjamin (Jay) Franklin Bowling, Jr. of Callaway, MD, daughter-In-Law Jennifer Bowling-Weber (Peter) of LaPlata, MD; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Frank was preceded in death by his son Brent Guy Bowling, and his brothers George (Pete) Washington Bowling and James (Jim) Patterson Bowling. Frank joined the Federal Capitol Police Force in 1967 and retired in 1986 after almost 20 years of service. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Wicomico Country Club. After retirement, he started working at the golf course as the "Marshal" where he enjoyed meeting and socializing with other golfers. Frank loved to dance and loved being with family and friends. In his later years, he was an avid collector of old movies (Westerns and War Films were his favorite), and spent much of his time watching them. Viewing will be on 14, October from 5:00PM -8:00PM with prayers recited at 7:00PM in the Mattingly-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will be held at Mattingly-Gardiner Funeral Home on 15 October at 10 AM with interment immediately following in Our Lady Queen of Peace, Helen, MD. Family and Friends are invited to the Belmont Farm in Clements, MD immediately following where lunch will be served by Rita B's Catering. All Dessert donations will be greatly appreciated. Pallbearers will be Bob Price, Pat Bowling, Marty Bowling, Southern Bowling, John Guy and Bob Guy. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Hospice of St. Mary's County.
