Suddenly on Friday, April 18, 2008, Robert J. Wells, affectionately known as Ronnie, departed this life for one eternal.

He was born on January 17, 1944 in Newburg, MD to late Robert P. and the late Margaret B. Wells. He was educated in the Charles County Public School system and was a life long resident of the county. Throughout his life he held various positions including that of a waterman, laborer, seawall builder, and his final position since 1995 was with the Charles County Public Facilities where he was respected and well liked.

Ronnie was truly a family man wanting nothing more than for the whole family to be together. He was married to Pauline E. Wells until her death in October 1988. Out of this union five children were born. Ronnie was blessed once again, and in February 1997 he married his second wife, Mary B. Wells, becoming father to her two children. Out of this union one child was born.

He was a well rounded man with many interest. He loved family gatherings, fishing, horseshoes, remodeling, gardening, soft ball games at the Elks Home and cleaning the church cemetery. One of his favorite expressions was "huh, boy I tell you, you trifling."

Ronnie was loved by many and had a heart of gold.

In addition to his wife, Mary, also left to cherish many fond memories are his children, Carrol, Pauline, Latonya, Lutitia, Benson, Deron, Mann, and Delvan, grandchildren; Cheneka, Juwan, Caneasha, Kalip, Cameron, Shontia, Charles, Robert, Benson, Jr, Javonte, Shyies, Deron, Jr., Shaquita, D.J., Shauquita, Devonta, and Devon, great-grandchildren, Doniesha, Tyreke, Tyrazz, Malik and Malaia, loved like sons, Calvin Thomas and Chris Fowler, loved like daughters, Annette Briscoe, and Joyce Dickens, daughters-in-law, Tyies, Debbie and Stephanie, sisters, Annie Mae Hemsley, Mary Ford, Margaret Tyler, Paulette Thomas, Elaine Johnson, Joan Wells, Mary Wells, Sheila Wells, Alice Thomas, brothers, James and Joseph Wells, loved like a brother, Joe Whiting brother-in-laws, Peter Tyler, James R. Thomas, Jr., Oynaks Johnson, Vincent Thomas, Russell and Robert Holton and Wallace Thomas, sisters-in-law, Alfreda Wells, Mazie Butler, Joyce Thomas, uncle, James Barnes, aunts, Betty Barnes, Margaret Powell, and Dorothy Wells, godson, Preston and a host of other relatives and friends.

His viewing will take place on Thursday, April 24th, 9:00a.m. until time of service 11:00a.m. at the Shiloh Community United Methodist Church in Newburg, Maryland. Interment Church Cemetery.
